This blog follows my journey from NYC to Seattle through the woods and over the mountains to the west coast I go!

My Former Lot

My former parking lot is now just a waste of space:

And I assume to be the future site of luxury condos.

Happy Birthday Rock Star

Today is my little Rocco's 10th birthday! So I made him a little cake and got him some marrow bones.

Weekend at Mt Rainier

I had such a nice and relaxing weekend! No internet or wifi. Lots of moss, lichen, trees and birds.

Days Getting Longer

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in Seattle who is bummed about the more daylight thing...

Trees are Blooming!

Electrical Problems

Soooo turning on a lamp switch with wet hands is apparently not a good idea.

It sizzled, sparkled and then smoked. Because of the modern design, the switch is transparent and you can see the smoke damage. It did turn on. But there was a blue spark when I turned it off. Scared to touch it again. Was it the wet hands? Or maybe just bad luck? I'm going to purchase a fire extinguisher before I try turning it on again...

Ballard AM for Car Oil Change

This morning I went to Ballard to drop off my car for an oil change. The sticker said 3/15 so I'm early :) I took Rocco with me for a little field trip. It's good to get the fox out of the house sometimes, right?

It finally stopped raining so we were able to perambulate around Ballard while the Tiguan was getting oil. The sidewalks were still wet and cold; I don't think Rocco liked that very much. So I plopped him in my purse and ran inside Anchored Ship to get some coffee. He seemed more into that idea. We left then bopped around and eventually ducked into a pet store that carries his favorite treat: dried chicken necks!

It only took about an hour for the VW guys to finish with the car so we headed back. But not before I found a good photographic opportunity:

Book in the Mail

So I received a book in the mail. Who would mass mail me a book?*

I kind of like the cover design so I kept it:

When I opened the book... Oh boy:

Deep Thought

I wonder if I'm in a better mood when I see the Olympic mountains on my drive to work in the morning. #nature
